What is granulated onion?

Granulated onion is an easy way to add full, fresh onion flavor when your recipe doesn't require the texture of fresh onions or you want to avoid the hassle of peeling and chopping onions. Our granulated onion has a coarser texture that onion powder, making it ideal as a base for homemade dry rubs and seasoning blends.

Is granulated onion different from onion powder?

Onion powder is made from dehydrated onions and ground into fine flowing particles. Since the powders are hygroscopic, many anticaking agents/additives are added. On the other hand, onion granules are made from dehydrated onions. No extra additives are added to it.

Is chopped onion the same as granulated onion?

Granulated onion is just like onion powder but more coarsely ground. OR - 1/2 cup chopped, fresh onion. You need quite a bit more freshly chopped onion to replace the more concentrated flavor in onion powder. You'll be using less because it is stronger in flavor than onion powder.
